(VBoxManage is a tool installed by VirtualBox. VDI is the native Virtual Box disk format. In order to tell Virtual Box that the file is a hard disk, you must first convert the IMG file to a VDI file. This is unlike ISO distributions, which do contain a partition table (even though their content is also not compressed). The IMG files distributed by FreeBSD contain a raw UFS file system raw meaning without overhead (metadata), compression or partition schema. While it should not matter (you have a file which contains a bootable system), in practise I only got it to work using a bootable hard disk. So you either have to tell Virtual Box it is a floppy, regular hard disk, or CD.

It is not possible to tell Virtual Box you want to boot from a USB disk. Virtualbox No Bootable Medium Found System Halted Mac OsįreeBSD is distributed as a IMG file, which is a normal format for USB disks.

I used VirtualBox to create a bootable USB key with FreeBSD using VirtualBox on my Mac. I don't remember which version I came from, but it couldn't have been older than 4 weeks, since that's how old my pc is. Virtualbox Mac Os No Bootable Medium Found Virtualbox Dmg No Bootable Medium Found System Halted I've just upgraded Virtualbox to 5.2.6. The reason I have installed this is because I heard that IMVU works on this and I really want IMVU on. I have no idea what to do I'm so confused. I have just installed Virtual Box on my Mac OX and everything was going ok until when i chose to run on Windows XP and it said: No bootable medium found! I have tried to look up info on how to fix it and one source said that install ISO image thing. Cheers, Silvia, VMware Workstation, Windows Virtual PC, Ubuntu, Linux, Kernel-based Virtual Ma. If you get no bootable medium, it means that in your vm both the HDU and the CDU are empty (it can mean too that your vm HDU hasn’t any boot record or any OS on).
